To prevent the build up of mildew in your washing machine you may wish to carry out the following guidance at least once a month.
Remove the soap drawer from it's housing and clean with a brush. A lavatory brush purchased especially for this task may be of help. Black deposits can be removed by spraying carefully with 'Dettol Mold and Mildew Cleaner' for bathrooms. Leave for 10 minutes before rinsing. IMPORTANT – Run the machine on a rinse program to prevent the bleaching of your next wash load.
Gather together some soiled tea towels and load into your washing machine. Place one or two 'Ariel Tablets for Whites' in the soap dispenser. The amount of detergent will depend on the size of the load – Do not use two tablets if you have only a few towels. Do not use liquid detergent or liquid capsules.
Set your machine to perform a 90 or 95 degree centigrade cotton wash. Make sure 'Economy' or 'Quick Wash' options are not selected. If you have 'Wash Plus', 'Rinse Plus' or, 'Intensive' options available you should select them. The program will take at least two hours to complete and will get very hot in the process – This is normal.
